To celebrate the arrival of autumn, my family enjoyed tasting and comparing several different varieties of apples. For this activity, I ordered one of each kind of apple that was available in our local grocery store and made an accompanying printable.
Supplies: - Up to six different kinds of apples (sliced)
- Crayons or colored pencils (red, yellow, green, brown)
- A printable worksheet to keep track of the tasting. FREE download here.
Wash the apples. Then remove the stickers and place them on the backs of the correlated numbered sticky notes.
Take a good look at the differences between the apples and color in the apples on the worksheet accordingly.
Slice the apples and enjoy a slice of each variety. Is it sweet or tart, soft or crisp? Older kids can assign a number between 0 and 10 for each category (e.g., sweetness: 6, crispness: 2). Guess the name of the apple you're tasting.
When everyone has tasted the apples, flip over the sticky notes to reveal the correct answers.
It's a fun and tasty autumn activity for the whole family.
